Corrections Capacity Announcement
Ontario inherited a corrections system from the previous government that had suffered 15 years of neglect, and that is why, under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is investing over half a billion dollars to enhance our jails and hire more staff.
We’re expanding and building facilities that will help frontline staff to do their jobs safely and effectively while increasing capacity to keep violent and repeat offenders off our streets.
We’re adding more than 630 beds across the province by reopening the Toronto Intermittent Centre and the Regional Intermittent Centre in London, renovating the Quinte Detention Centre and building the new Brockville Correctional Complex.
Our government’s record investments in police services, court-system and correctional facilities will enable Ontario to hold more criminals accountable for their actions and keep communities safe.
