Diversifying Ontario’s Trade to Support Workers

As tariffs and geopolitical instability continue to reconfigure global supply chains, our government is taking action to diversify Ontario’s trade, strengthen the economy and give Ontario workers and businesses more pathways to succeed.

From critical minerals and automotive parts to life-saving pharmaceuticals, and world-class defence equipment, global demand for Ontario-made goods continues to grow.

Through our trade and investment missions, our government continues to position Ontario as the destination of choice for companies looking to grow, innovate and compete.

In 2025, Ontario led more than 60 targeted trade missions, connecting Ontario businesses directly with international buyers and helping companies pursue new commercial opportunities. That same year, Ontario attracted $35 billion in foreign direct investment, creating 64,000 new jobs.

Since 2018, Ontario has proudly established free trade market access with over 50 countries in the world and has seen significant growth in two-way trade with jurisdictions across the world, including a 120% increase in trade between Ontario and the ASEAN region, 96% with Poland, as well as 94% trade growth with South Korea and 88% with India.

By lowering costs and cutting red tape, we’ve attracted more than $235 billion in investment since 2018 and helped businesses create 1 million new jobs
