Governments Increasing Workforce Diversity in Agriculture
The governments of Canada and Ontario are investing up to $1.5 million in the Agricultural Workforce Equity and Diversity Initiative to help underrepresented groups start and grow businesses in the agri-food sector.
Funded through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership, the Agricultural Workforce Equity and Diversity Initiative provides grants of up to $100,000 for projects that support agribusiness ventures led by minority groups, including Indigenous peoples, 2SLGBTQI+ people, persons with disabilities, youth, women or members of French linguistic minority communities.
Our government is committed to finding ways to increase the diversity of people advancing in our agriculture and food industry, and that is reflected in our Grow Ontario Strategy.
The Agricultural Workforce Equity and Diversity Initiative will add to other efforts the government has taken to bolster the ranks of people in this sector and offer creative solutions for members of under-represented groups to enhance and share in its economic success.
