Investing to Build Stronger Communities and Lower Housing Costs

Ontario’s $236 billion investment in infrastructure is providing unprecedented support to municipalities across the province, so we can grow the economy, unlock our resources, protect our workers and build the strongest and most competitive economy in the G7.

We are investing in critical infrastructure to protect and build Ontario communities today and for the future, creating thousands of good-paying jobs, supporting our growing population and strengthening local economies by helping communities unlock the benefits of sport tourism.

To keep the dream of home ownership alive, our government is investing $8.8 billion in partnership with the federal government to build the housing-enabling infrastructure Ontario needs to get more homes built, faster.

Through this partnership, $1 billion will be dedicated to support the construction of homes and critical infrastructure in communities that do not levy development charges, with applications opening October 29.

Our plan is working. New home sales are up 130 per cent compared to last year.

We are also building the world-class community spaces families deserve, investing in new and upgraded arenas, community centres, pools and playing fields through the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund.

Earlier this year, our government increased CSRIF to $500 million through the 2026 budget, the largest investment of its kind in Ontario’s history, and today we are officially opening the next round of applications.

These projects are creating good-paying local jobs and world-class community spaces that residents can enjoy for decades to come
