Making Public Spaces Safe

Our government is focused on real solutions that provide those struggling with addiction with the supports they need to break the tragic cycle of addiction.

As part of our plan to protect families and keep communities safe, we’ve opened the new Kingston HART Hub, replacing the last provincially funded drug injection site in Ontario.

With the Kingston HART Hub now operational, all 29 Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hubs are open across the province.

Supported by a $560 million investment, HART Hubs have delivered care to more than 46,000 clients served, advancing our government’s plan to fund treatment and lasting recovery from addiction rather than continued public funding for drug injection sites.

With all 29 HART Hubs now open and serving communities, we’re connecting vulnerable people to the treatment and recovery services they need to rebuild their lives, while protecting Ontario communities from the impacts of illegal drug use.

This action builds on legislation passed in 2024 that prohibits drug injection sites from operating within 200 metres of schools and child-care centres.
