Ontario Creating More Jobs in Skilled Trades

Ontario is making record investments to ensure we have the skilled workforce to deliver on our $236 billion plan to build the homes, highways, hospitals, schools and critical infrastructure that will protect Ontario workers and communities.

Over the next decade, Ontario will need more than 400,000 workers to fill skilled trades-related job openings, including nearly 75,000 workers in construction alone.

That’s why our government has already invested $1.5 billion since 2021 to help train more than one million workers for in-demand careers.

We’re also expanding apprenticeship opportunities and ensuring trainees have access to modern, industry-standard training, which has resulted in a record-high number of new apprenticeship registrations last year.

We will continue to expand apprenticeship pathways and increase access to skilled trades training so Ontario has the workers we need to build our province, create good-paying jobs and deliver the nation-building projects our communities rely on.
