Ontario Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes

Thanks to the actions taken by our government to reduce red tape, we’re positioned to save people, businesses, not-for-profits, and the broader public sector over $1.2 billion and 1.5 million hours every single year.

To reach our goal of building 1.5 million homes by 2031, we are building homes faster at a lower cost, prioritizing infrastructure for housing projects that are ready to go, improving consultation while providing municipalities and builders with greater certainty, and building more types of homes for more people.

Under the previous Liberal government, the cost of complying with government regulations in this province was the highest in Canada, driving jobs and investment out of Ontario.

As we continue to grow jobs and attract investment to the province, we’re taking action to cut red tape and support municipalities to build the homes Ontarians need faster, improve quality of life, and create stronger communities for everyone – from students to families to people in need.

The best ideas to cut red tape and make life easier come from the people who deal with it every day. We encourage people and businesses to share their ideas with us through Ontario’s dedicated Red Tape Portal.
