Ontario Investing $260 Million to Protect and Train Workers
July 30, 2025
Our government is continuing to deliver on its plan to protect workers by launching the sixth round of the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Stream.
With an investment of $260 million, this round will support innovative projects that help hire, train and upskill workers in key sectors most at risk from U.S. tariffs such as manufacturing, health care, construction, automotive and other skilled trades.
This investment is part of the government’s $2.5 billion investment through SDF to support major industries and sectors while protecting Ontario workers by giving them the tools they need to land rewarding, good-paying jobs, while keeping Ontario competitive in the face of economic uncertainty.
Applications for SDF Training Stream Round 6 are open until October 1, 2025.
Since launching in 2021, Ontario’s SDF Training Stream has aimed to deliver training to over 700,000 workers across in-demand sectors, including over 154,000 construction workers, over 124,000 manufacturing workers and over 52,000 PSWs and health-care workers.
