Ontario Investing $56.8 Million to Expand Nursing Enrollment
October 8, 2025
Nurses are the backbone of Ontario’s health care system – delivering skilled, compassionate care and supporting patients at every stage of life.
To help meet the growing demand for health care professionals, our government is over $56 million to expand enrolment in nursing programs at Ontario’s publicly assisted colleges and universities.
This investment will train 2,200 additional registered practical nurses (RPNs), registered nurses (RNs), and nurse practitioners (NPs) by 2029 – strengthening our nursing workforce and ensuring a reliable pipeline of highly skilled nurses for our hospitals, long-term care homes, community health centres and primary care clinics.
This investment is protecting Ontario’s health-care system by ensuring communities have access to excellent health care, close to home, for decades to come.
