We’re investing more than $75 million to train thousands of students and workers for rewarding careers in long-term care over the next three years.
By investing in practical, career-focused training, we’re helping long-term care homes recruit, train and retain staff while ensuring residents receive the quality of care and quality of life they deserve.
Today’s investment is part of our government’s plan to protect Ontario’s long-term care system by investing more than $4.9 billion to create thousands of long-term care positions for workers in long-term care.
This includes investing more than $180 million to launch new programs that will attract and retain close to 8,000 highly skilled nurses in long-term care and an additional $44 million this year to further strengthen staffing levels for nurses, PSWs and allied health professionals.
We will continue to build the skilled workforce Ontario needs for the future and bring more dedicated personal support workers, registered practical nurses, and nurses to long-term care homes across Ontario.
