Ontario Marks Opening of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT
February 19, 2026
The Eglinton Crosstown officially opens on February 8, 2026, marking a major milestone for transit riders in Toronto.
We inherited the Eglinton Crosstown LRT from the Liberals. We learned from this experience, and we’ve applied those lessons to how we deliver major transit projects moving forward.
Our government recognizes that the construction of this LRT has not been easy and that the delays have been particularly frustrating for people living along Eglinton Avenue. We’re grateful for their perseverance.
This line will move more than 123,000 riders each weekday and cut travel times from Kennedy to Mount Dennis by nearly one hour, giving people a faster way to get where they need to go.
To mark opening day, Ontario will make service free for riders on February 8th.
Line 5 Eglinton brings 25 stations and stops across 19 kilometres, including more than 10 kilometres underground, and connects riders to 68 routes, three TTC subway stations, and two GO lines for easier transfers.
Under Premier Ford, we’re investing nearly $70 billion to expand transit, and unlike the previous Liberal government, we’re getting it done.
