Ontario Protecting Workers and Jobs by Investing in Postsecondary Education
To protect Ontario workers and jobs in response to President Trump’s tariffs, our government is expanding training capacity at our world-class publicly funded colleges and universities, preparing thousands of additional students for in-demand roles in critical STEM sectors.
We are investing $750 million to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs at postsecondary institutions across the province, funding up to 20,500 more seats each year.
Our government’s investment will help institutions deliver high-quality STEM programs to prepare students for in-demand jobs in key industries such as advanced manufacturing, life sciences and technology, ensuring Ontario retains and grows its economic advantage in these sectors.
Our government is strengthening Ontario’s homegrown, highly skilled workforce by ensuring our graduates have the training they need to thrive in economy-driving sectors, making Ontario one of the most competitive places in the G7 to invest and do business.
