Ontario Taking Bike Lanes Off Toronto’s Busiest Streets

April 3, 2025

Our government has heard loud and clear about the problems with gridlock and the failed approach of installing bike lanes without a second thought for drivers or local businesses.

That is why, under the Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024,we’re moving ahead with plans to remove bike lanes on three of Toronto’s most congested streets.

We have retained an engineering company to complete design work, as we prepare to reinstate vehicle lanes on Bloor Street West, Yonge Street and University Avenue.

By freeing up some of Toronto’s most important roads, we’re bringing common sense back to municipal planning.

Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government will continue to get it done for Ontario drivers by fighting gridlock and keeping costs down.
