When it comes to keeping drivers and goods moving in downtown Toronto, there are no roadways more central than the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway.
That is why, as part of the New Deal for Toronto, our government is uploading ownership and maintenance of these vital highways in fall 2027.
Until the transfer is complete, we will provide up to $353 million dollars to the City of Toronto to ensure it can continue to operate and maintain these critical roadways.
By taking ownership of these two highways, we are helping important reconstruction work to happen without delay, ensuring these roadways remain safe, reliable, toll free and in good repair.
The Gardiner Expressway and DVP are nationally significant economic corridors, facilitating domestic and international trade, boosting GDP and supporting millions of visitors to Toronto annually.
