With global demand for Canadian oil growing through 2050, and natural gas demand expected to increase by 30 per cent, Ontario is taking action now to secure our role as a leading energy producer and secure supply chains.
The Northern Sheild Energy Corridor would move 500,000 barrels of Western Canadian crude oil each day along a proposed 3,300-kilometre route from Hardisty, Alberta, to Sarnia, Ontario, one of the country’s most important industrial hubs.
Built with Ontario steel and by Ontario workers, this project would create good-paying jobs in Ontario while reinforcing Sarnia’s role as the eastern gateway of a modern, coast-to-coast Canadian energy network.
