Record Investments for Municipalities

Our government is making record investments in the municipal sector to protect and strengthen our local communities. In fact, from 2019 to 2025, provincial support for municipalities grew by over 60 per cent.

This year, we are providing a total of $600 million in funding to 388 municipalities through the Ontario Municipal Partnership Fund. This represents an increase of $100 million over two years.

In March, we signed the Canada-Ontario Partnership to Build which supports both the HST Rebate and the Development Charge Reduction Program. These two measures alone will save up to $200,000 on new homes.

In 2026, we will provide $400 million to 423 small, rural and northern municipalities through the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund, for a total investment of $2.8 billion since 2018.

In 2025, we increased the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program by $1.6 billion, bringing the total amount to a historic $4 billion.

In 2025 we also provided nearly $1 billion to upper-tier municipalities and designated delivery agents through the Land Ambulance Services Grant.

In 2023-24 we increased our provincial homelessness prevention programs by an additional $202 million, bringing Ontario’s total yearly investment to almost $700 million.

Our investments in community and housing-enabling infrastructure, combined with our full cut to the HST on new homes is how our government is building stronger communities and finding real, practical and innovative solutions that grow our economy, create good-paying jobs and build the infrastructure our communities need to succeed.
