Our government is delivering on its plan to protect Ontario and build a more competitive economy by developing a world-class workforce that can help the province stand up to tariffs and economic uncertainty.
To prepare more students for in-demand careers, Ontario is funding 40,000 new postsecondary seats at our world-class colleges and universities, with seats available for student enrollment as early as fall 2026.
This builds on the 30,000 seats we funded earlier this year, totalling $1.7 billion invested to fund 70,000 new seats in high-demand areas including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), health care, education and trades.
Amid unprecedented economic threats, this investment is supporting the largest seat expansion in Ontario in more than a decade and will ensure more students can train for good-paying careers that protect and strengthen our communities, industries and province.
